These ingredients are mixed to form a dough which is formed into flat discs which can be grilled or fried, depending on the region to make fresh chapattis.

How to use :

To make chapatis, mix one cup of flour with a pinch of salt and add two tablespoons of oil or melted ghee. Add around 1/3 cup water and knead, forming a thick dough. Break off small pieces of the dough, form balls, and roll the balls out. Cook these basic chapatis on a griddle, and serve warm.
To make Poori, Put the flour in a large bowl.Add stream water and use one hand to mix the flour and water in a rotating motion from centre of bowl outward.The mixture should be as a non sticky dough.
Rest the dough is for 1/2 hour in warm temperature and 1.5 hours in cold climates.Cover with wet towel so that dough does not dry out.Knead again to be stiff enough to roll extra flour .Make small balls and dip a corner of ball in melted ghee of oil and roll out to 4 to 5 inches round.Heat plenty of oil in a kadhai until very hot.Now put in a poori and immediately start flickering hot oil over the top of it with a spatula so that it will swell up like a ball.This should take only a few seconds. Flip the poori over and cook the other side until golden brown. Serve hot with Vegetable side dish.

Indian Recipe: Wheat Flour Ladoo


• Wheat flour – 1 cup
Sugar – 1/2 cup
• Melted Ghee or dalda – 1/2 tsp
Besan – 1/2 cup
• Chopped Cashew Nuts – 3 tsp
• Melted ghee – 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder – 1/4 tsp
• sieves and powdered sugar – 1/2 cup

Method of Preparation:

Heat a pan and add the ghee.Saute wheat flour and besan together.Do not allow the colour of the flour to change.When it is done, remove from fire and allow for cooling.
Add powdered sugar,cardamom powder and mix well. In the pan Melt 1/2 cup sugar. Add 1/4 cup ghee in it. Pour the content immediately on a greased flat vessel.
This syrup will become hard when cooled. Grind it coarsely and add this to the prepared flour mixture. Fry the cashew nuts and mix in the remaining 1/4 cup ghee.
Add this to the flour mixture and mix well. Make small balls before it cools. Now The tasty Ladoo is Ready.
